Bachelorette party Halkidiki planning usually starts the same way: someone opens a laptop, searches for ideas, and ends up choosing between a beach club and a boat. After 15 years of skippering these celebrations across the waters of Kassandra and Sithonia, I have a clear opinion on which one wins. But I’ll let the story do the talking.
Why a Bachelorette Party in Halkidiki Belongs on the Water
Every season, I have groups that want to stop at a beach bar. Some of them listen to me when I suggest otherwise. The ones who do, without exception, tell me at the end of the day that they’re glad they changed their minds.
Here’s the thing about a beach bar: you share it with a hundred other people, the music is someone else’s choice, and you’re sitting at a table. On a sailing yacht, you have the entire Aegean to yourselves. The music is yours. The anchorage is private. And when you want to swim, you jump off the side of the boat into turquoise water that no beach bar can compete with.
After the cruise? Then go to the beach bar. The combination works perfectly.
What Actually Happens on a Bachelorette Sailing Day in Halkidiki
We depart from Paliouri Chrousso Pier or Porto Carras Marina in the morning. The full-day cruise is seven hours — and in my experience, seven hours is exactly the right amount of time for a bachelorette party in Halkidiki. Long enough to relax completely, short enough to still have energy for the evening.
The typical day looks something like this: we sail out to our first anchorage — usually Kelyfos Island or the Spalathronisia archipelago — where everyone swims for the first time. Then we move on, find a quieter cove for lunch, swim again, and spend the afternoon drifting along the coastline before heading back to port as the sun drops.
Along the way, there is music — always. Most groups come with a playlist ready. There are drinks, there is laughter, and at some point in the afternoon, someone always says “I didn’t know sailing would feel like this.”
It always feels like this. That’s the point.
The Decorations, the Sashes, and Everything Else
Some groups arrive at the pier with balloons, banners, bride-to-be sashes, and enough pink decorations to make the boat visible from neighbouring islands. I love these groups. The boat looks wonderful, the photos are beautiful, and there is something genuinely moving about watching a group of women celebrate one of their own in the middle of the Aegean.
If you want to decorate the boat — please do. Just let us know in advance so we can make sure there’s space, and nothing ends up in the sea. The Aegean is beautiful partly because we keep it that way.
A Story I Will Never Forget
A few years ago, I had a bachelorette party in Halkidiki that lasted three days — a multi-day sailing trip that is, in my opinion, the ultimate version of this experience. On the second evening, the bride asked me to bring the boat to a specific beach bar along the coast. I didn’t ask why. I anchored offshore, and the group swam in.
It was only as I watched them disappear into the darkness — laughing, whispering, moving with a very specific kind of purpose — that I began to piece it together from the half-sentences I’d overheard during the day.
The groom’s bachelor party was at that beach bar.
They swam in under cover of night, found the party, and — from what I understand — chaos ensued in the best possible way. The wedding happened. Which tells me everything I need to know about how the evening went.
I have never asked for details. Some things are better left at sea.
Catamaran or Sailing Yacht for a Bachelorette Party in Halkidiki?
For bachelorette parties, I almost always recommend the catamaran. Here’s why: the catamaran has a wide, flat deck with a trampoline net at the front — perfect for sunbathing, dancing, and group photos. It also accommodates up to 12 guests, which works well for a typical bachelorette group. The stability is excellent, which matters after a few glasses of wine in the afternoon sun.
The sailing yacht is the better choice if the group is smaller and wants a more intimate, classic sailing experience. Both are wonderful. But for a full group celebration, the catamaran wins.
What to Bring to Your Bachelorette Party in Halkidiki
These are the essentials for any bachelorette party Halkidiki sailing day:
Swimwear, obviously. Sunscreen — more than you think you need. A change of clothes for the evening if you’re heading somewhere after. Comfortable shoes you can take off easily at the dock.
Leave the high heels on land. I say this with affection.
Bring whatever you want to drink — we have a fridge on board. Bring snacks if you have specific preferences. We provide fruit, soft drinks and wine as standard, and we can arrange a lunch stop at a taverna along the coast.
And bring the bride. Everything else, the sea will take care of.
